Europe Senior Tourism is promoted on Facebook, LinkedIN and Twitter
06.04.2011. Europe Senior Tourism invites European seniors who love tourism to join the SeniorTourism community on Facebook and to get to know the advantages and benefits of the programme that will enable them to travel and discover some of the best destinations in Spain in the low season. All those who sign up will also enter a prize draw to win one of the 8-day trips.
For the second year running, Europe Senior Tourism is launching an innovative campaign on the social networks to promote the travel programme. The “display” campaign on Facebook and LinkedIN is present in more than 15 European countries and is complemented by actions carried out by opinion-making travel bloggers who are recognised in these countries.
A second stage will promote a Facebook application that has been developed for this purpose, to get the community to participate and get involved: Suggest Spain! It encourages participants to recommend Spain through their experiences; they can include photos or videos, locate their favourite places on Google Maps and share all these experiences on Twitter, amongst many other options. The more you “suggest”, the better reputation you get, until you become a “Travel Ambassador”. The application is also open to seniors’ families and renowned travel journalists and bloggers.
The use of these social networks by European seniors is growing exponentially; they log in every day and the average estimated time they spend on these networks is more than fifty minutes. More than 20% of the senior population uses these networks daily and every year the figure reaches a new record high, according to Nielsen in a report for 2010.
