The President of SEGITTUR presents in Milan presents the second edition of the program Europe Senior Tourism
(08/09/2010) SEGITTUR’s president, Javier Bustamante, presented the second edition of the Europe Senior Tourism pilot programme before the press in Milan. He also met with the tour operator responsible for promoting the programme in Italy, Il Viaggi delle Pleiadi, in order to learn more about how the project is developing. Almost 5,500 Italians took part in the first edition of Europe Senior Tourism, in which Italy was the fourth largest market.
SEGITTUR publishes the public tender to start the program Europe Senior Tourism in the Canary Islands
(09/08/2010) The Europe Senior Tourism programme expands to the Canary Islands, and the technical documents for the public contracting of the organisation, commercialisation, management and execution of the tours to this Autonomous Region have been published by SEGITTUR in the Official Journal of the European Union. In the first season in the Canary Islands (25 April to 30 June 2011), European seniors will have at their disposal 15,000 places, distributed between the islands of Gran Canaria, Tenerife, Lanzarote and Fuerteventura.

(01/06/2010) In its first pilot edition, the economic value generated by the Europe Senior Tourism programme in Spain was estimated at €22.5 million. Almost 45,000 tourists from 15 countries –Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Italy, Ireland, Poland, Czech Republic, Romania, Greece, Portugal, Hungary, France, Denmark, Holland and Slovakia– visited Spain in this first season, with more than 36,278 heading for Andalusia and 8,183 opting for the Balearic Islands.
SEGITTUR kiest voor sociale netwerken als het meest directe en innovatieve middel om bekendheid te geven aan het project Europe Senior Tourism voor mogelijke klanten. Daarom ligt het accent van de campagne op Facebook of Twitter. Het doel is Europese toeristen van 55 jaar en ouder gedurende de winter 2009-2010 naar Spanje te laten reizen.
De Spaanse staatssecretaris van Toerisme presenteert het programma Europe Senior Tourism in Polen. Polen is , na Griekenland en Italië, het derde land met de meeste reisboekingen via het programma Europe Senior Tourism. Een van de prioriteiten van het Spaanse ministerie van Industrie, toerisme en handel, met het oog op het voorzitterschap van Spanje van de Europese Unie, is in het eerste semester van 2010 binnen het EU-beleid ten aanzien van toerisme het perspectief van de sector voor het voetlicht te brengen, en in het bijzonder de promotie van het programma Europe Senior Tourism.
