bw Europe Senior Tourism is promoted in the Prague trade fair

07.02.2013. Turespaña and SEGITTUR were present to promote the fourth edition of Europe Senior Tourism during the Holiday World tourism fair in Prague, the country's most important trade fair. Around fifty travel agents and members of the specialised press attended the presentation, which also featured the participation of some of the destinations included in the programme: La Manga and Mar Menor (Murcia), Calvià (Majorca), Minorca and Costa del Sol.

The Czech market has become the top nationality with regard to the number of senior tourists coming to Spain during the fourth season of the Europe Senior Tourism programme, with expected sales of over 9,000 holiday packages from October to May 2013.

In the Czech market, Euroseniors, the Spanish company in charge of commercialising the programme, has two partners in the source country: the tour operators Delfin Travel and Quality Tours.

The fourth season of the programme offers seniors resident in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Lithuania, Romania, Bulgaria and Poland 24,200 holiday packages subsidised with €90 for the period between 2012 to May 2013 at the following destinations: Santa Susanna and Lloret (Catalonia), Calvià and Palma (Majorca), Minorca, Santa Eulàlia des Riu (Ibiza), La Manga and Mar Menor (Murcia), Gandia, Peñíscola and Benidorm (Region of Valencia) and Costa del Sol and Costa Tropical (Andalusia).

Europe Senior Tourism aims to achieve four objectives: to create and preserve employment in the low season, to encourage the economic recovery of the destinations by combating tourist seasonality, to contribute to active ageing, and to promote the construction of European citizenship. In the three first editions nearly 120,000 senior tourists from 16 different nationalities have travelled to Spanish destinations.
