European senior tourists start to arrive in Spain for 2011-2012 season

(24/10/11) Madrid, 24 October 2011.- The first European senior tourists have started to arrive in Andalusia, the Balearic Islands and the Region of Valencia on the 3rd Europe Senior Tourism programme, starting in October and lasting until the end of April. 

A special welcome was organised for the first tourists in Malaga airport – 200 Polish tourists were received by SEGITTUR’s president, Javier Bustamante, and representatives of the Andalusian Regional Government.

Europe Senior Tourism is a pioneering project worldwide which sells partially subsidised trips to Spain to European citizens over 55, during the mid and low season. The aims are to reinvigorate the economy outside the summer season, and to improve active employment policies, while contributing to active ageing and building up the concept of European Citizenship.
 

Euroseniors to manage the Europe Senior Tourism programme for the 2011-2012 season

Euroseniors is the company charged with managing the Europe Senior Tourism Programme in the October 2011-April 2012 campaign. 
Euroseniors is a temporary consortium formed by the companies Viajes Iberia, Viajes Barceló and Viajes Halcón, which was awarded the project in the public bidding.

Europe Senior Tourism programme for the 2011-2012 season presented in Poland

(19/09/2011) Javier Bustamante, the president of SEGITTUR, travelled to Poland to present the Europe Senior Tourism programme for the 2011-2012, starting on 1 October until the end of April. Thanks to the programme, more than 98,000 tourists have travelled to Spain these last two years, and most of the European seniors came from Poland.
Europe Senior Tourism is a pioneering project worldwide which organises partially subsidised trips to Spain for European citizens over 55, during the mid and low season. The aims are to rekindle the economy outside the summer season and improve active employment policies, as well as to contribute to active ageing and to build the concept of European Citizenship.
During the visit, Bustamante has presented the new season to Polish tour operators that market the programme in this country. Euroseniors is the Spanish agency that manages the trips, but the companies that market the programme in Poland are: Rainbow Tours, Neckermann, Exim Tours, Euro 90 and Kruppe.
